Sun protects student plans from going overboard with internet charges
At the onset of the new school year, mobile telecommunications innovator Sun Cellular assures to help protect students from going overboard with internet charges through its iPlans with the Anti-Bill Shock charging feature.
“Students now have grown more keen on using their phones for internet surfing. With this, we’re happy to extend the Anti-Bill Shock feature to our internet plans to let parents gain more control of their spending on their children’s postpaid bills, without actually putting a limit to their usage,” says Francisco Araña III, Sun Cellular’s Vice President for Product Development and Value-Added Services.
First introduced by Sun in February 2012, the Anti-Bill Shock feature imposes a maximum charge cap on Sun’s bucket services. “This was designed to cater to those who do not really intend to go unlimited on their internet usage, but would still not want to be bound with a certain usage allocation”, Araña shares.
And now, Sun sets off to take advantage of this special charging scheme to cater to student-held plans and prevent them from incurring expensive charges due to unwanted mobile internet charges.
Parents may now ask to upgrade their children’s Sun Postpaid subscription to include the iPlan 149 with 20 hours of mobile internet or to the iPlan 399 with 60 hours of mobile browsing. Should their children need to consume more than the monthly allocation, they are ensured to be charged only P10 for 30 minutes in excess of the allocation until the maximum amount of P999 per month for mobile internet services.
“Especially with the challenging and highly-competitive academic landscape these days, the fear of incurring expensive bills should be the least of student and parent concerns. With this service, they may now eliminate such nuisance and just fulfil their mobile surfing needs conveniently, with no worries,” Araña adds.
