Aga Muhlach on being a father, exploring the world, and keeping in touch back home
How does one reconcile showbiz schedule with family time? Ask Aga Muhlach and he’ll admit without a moment’s hesitation that, indeed, it is never easy to be in show business, especially for a father like him. Aga has recently been going around the world, embarking on adventure-filled sprees that take him to familiar and exotic places, as host of TV5 weekly show Pinoy Explorer.
However, his globetrotting ways are not without personal sacrifice. As much as it is fun to travel and explore different destinations, it is also heart-rending for the actor every time he travels without his wife and kids.
But home is where the heart is and so, whatever part of the world the multi-awarded actor may wind up in, he is sure to touch base with his family. “Kahit pa busy at hectic ang schedule ko, I see to it that I stay connected with Atasha and Andres every chance I get lalo na pag their mommy (Charlene) is taping for a show,” shares Aga.
Aga’s edutainment show has brought him to provinces in the Philippines, as well as to foreign soils. But he has modern technology and Sun Cellular to thank, for bringing him closer to home. “During my time, we only had operator-assisted calls. Good thing we have mobile phones today for calls and texts!”
Furthermore, Aga is always on the loop with goings-on in his family even during his absence. “Calls from my wife and the twins give me the assurance that they are safe and secure. I’m happy, too, that we use Sun Cellular not just for local calls but more importantly for overseas calls when I’m abroad. Ang galling nga eh kasi parang local call lang, with Sun’s very affordable IDD rates! Plus, the signal is very clear and stable,” he notes.
Sun Todo IDD Tawag comes very handy for the TV show host as it offers affordable IDD rates to different parts of the world including the US (Main), Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Guam, and Hawaii at only P2 per minute. Meanwhile, calls to Australia, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Macau, Brunei, Thailand, India, and Northern Marianas are at P5 per minute. Other countries covered by the Sun Todo IDD Tawag include Japan, Italy, Bahrain, and Kuwait at P8 per minute, and Saudi Arabia, UAE, UK, Indonesia, Spain, and France at only P10 per minute. Plus, with Sun’s strong partnership with PLDT-Smart network, subscribers are sure to enjoy stronger signal and wider network coverage in the Philippines.
Fatherhood has indeed given the former matinee idol much fulfillment. “Like any parent, Charlene and I want our kids to be better individuals when they grow up, so we teach them good values while they are young.” Aga also proudly shares that his twins are very self-reliant and responsible as early as now.
Aga’s devotion to his children and family hasn’t gone unnoticed. Last year, he was named as one of the Ulirang Ama awardees by the National Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Foundation, Inc., an award-giving body that recognizes model parents who exemplify integrity and high moral principles in raising and nurturing their children.
For all the awards and titles that he’s been given, none is as fulfilling and bears so much personal impact as that of being a father. “It is something that I work hard on because I want to be a good parent to my kids.”
Sun Todo IDD Tawag is available in P50, P100 and P300 via call card or via Xpress load. It is also available via load conversion by texting TODOIDD 50/TODOIDD 100/TODOIDD 300 to 247.
