    1. What is Easy Broadband? 

    Easy Broadband is Sun’s easy-to-get postpaid broadband plan. Enjoy unlimited broadband subscription with speeds of up to 2Mbps without going through the hassle of submitting documents. This plan comes with a plug & play modem and a Sun Broadband Wireless SIM. 

    2. How can I avail Easy Broadband? 

    Just submit one (1) valid ID with an address, filled-out service application form and pay the P1895 modem fee and P799 advance monthly service fee. No credit evaluation will be conducted. 

    3. What’s the holding period for Easy Broadband? 

    There’s no holding period for Easy Broadband.

     

     Easy Broadband SIM only


    1. What is Easy Broadband SIM only? 

    Easy Broadband SIM only does not come with a plug & play modem. In terms of service features, this subscription is exactly the same as Easy Broadband. Both subscriptions are unlimited and have speeds of up to 2Mbps. 

    2. How can I avail Easy Broadband SIM only? 

    Submit a valid ID together with a filled-out service application form to any of The Sun Shops, Sun Cellular Corporate Account Managers or Accredited Sun Broadband Wireless Agents.


    3. What’s the holding period for Easy Broadband SIM only? 

    There’s no holding period for Easy Broadband SIM only. 

    4. Is the Easy Broadband SIM only subscription compatible with any phone? 

    The phone must be 3G-capable and not SIM-locked to other network providers. 

    5. Will Easy Broadband SIM only work on any phone/modem brand? 

    Yes, as long as it’s 3G capable. 

    6. How can I use my 3G phone as a modem? 

    First and foremost, you must set-up the network setting of your phone to 3G/UTMS. After which, install your 3G phone to your computer using the PC Suite that usually comes with the phone. Then open your user interface, set the Access Point Name (APN) to “fbband” and then connect to the internet. 

    7. I usually surf the internet directly in my 3G phone. Can I do this with Easy Broadband SIM only? 

    Yes, just insert the SIM card, set the network setting to 3G/UTMS and the APN to “fbband” and then your good to go. 

    8. Can I make calls and send SMS when Easy Broadband SIM only is used on a 3G phone? 

    No. Easy Broadband can only be used for data. You may subscribe to Sun Broadband Wireless Call & Surf Lite or Unlimited should you wish to make voice calls and send SMS via your broadband service.   

    Sun Broadband Wireless Plan 649 Bundle

    1. What is Sun Broadband Wireless Plan 649 Bundle? 

    Sun Broadband Wireless Plan 649 Bundle is Sun’s unlimited broadband subscription which is bundled with a Sun Postpaid Plan (Regular Plan or Group Plan). Enjoy speeds of up to 2Mbps and a P150 monthly savings for the broadband service. This plan comes with a plug & play modem and a Sun Broadband Wireless SIM. This subscription may be availed by new and existing Sun Cellular Subscribers. 

    2. How can I avail Sun Broadband Wireless Plan 649 Bundle?

    1. What is Sun Broadband Wireless Prepaid? 

    The Next Generation Broadband service from Sun Cellular, is now available in prepaid. 

    Sun Broadband Wireless Prepaid comes with a plug-and-play device. It’s compact and easy to use thus allowing you to have mobility to enjoy broadband internet speeds of up to 2Mbps. 

    2. How can I avail Sun Broadband Wireless Prepaid? 

    Just pay the modem charge and get connected right away. There’s absolutely no need to submit credit documents.


    3. What’s the holding period for Sun Broadband Wireless Prepaid? 

    There’s no holding period for Sun Broadband Wireless Prepaid. Since this service is prepaid, you can load your account only when there’s a need for you to access the internet. No need to worry about monthly bills. 

    4. What are the advantages of Sun Broadband Wireless Prepaid? 

    Fast- Speeds of up to 2Mbps
    Affordable- Get broadband internet connection for as low as P1.04/ 30 minutes (when using SBW 50 Special Load)

    Easy to Use- Plug & Play; no need for phone lines .

    5. What are the available usage rates? 

    You may load Special Load Scratch Card or applicable (Regular or Special) loads thru any Sun Xpress Load Retailer.

     


    Regular Load

    When using Regular Load, the applicable rate is P10 per 30 minutes. You may exhaust the 30 minutes either straight & uninterrupted or on a staggered basis within the two (2) hours consumption period. To make the most out of your regular load, you must only load amounts which are divisible by P10. 





    Possible load denominations are as follows:




    NOTE: You may load as much as P500 (valid for 60 days) via Sun Xpress Load Retailers. 

    Special Load

    Sun Broadband Wireless Special L oad is a load variant specific only for Sun Broadband Wireless Prepaid. This is packed with more internet hours usage and is targeted for heavy prepaid internet users. 
    out of your regular load, you must only load amounts which are divisible by P10. 






    Being the case, you will only be paying as low as P1.04/30 mins., 4.17/30 mins and P3.13/mins. if you’re using SBW 50, 100 & 300, respectively.


    6. Can I load regular load to my account via Give-a-Load? 

    No. Sun Broadband Wireless Prepaid is not yet equipped to receive regular load from Give-a-Load. 

    7. What will happen to the FREE SMS that usually comes with Regular Load? 

    FREE SMS is not applicable for Sun Broadband Wireless Prepaid. Sun Broadband Wireless Prepaid is good for data only and cannot be used for voice and SMS. 

    8.  Where can I avail SBW 50, 100 & 300?

     

     

    SBW 50 may be availed over-the-air through Sun Xpress Load Retailers or Give-a-Load. SBW 50 scratch cards are also available.

    SBW 100 and 300 may be availed as scratch cards or over-the-air through Sun Xpress Load Retailers.

     

    9. What will happen if I avail Regular Load even if I still have unused Regular Load in my account? 

    Your load will add-up and the validity will follow the longer load validity between the two loads (NOTE: Load validity accumulation is not applicable for Sun Broadband Wireless Prepaid). 

    Scenario1: Joey has P10 unused regular load valid for 1 day. Later in the afternoon, Joey decided to load P100 regular load with a validity of 5 days. 

    Following the longer validity rule, it would follow that his total load amount is P110 which is valid for 5 days upon loading the P100 load. Total internet hours usage is 5 hours and 30 minutes. 

    10. What will happen if I load Sun Broadband Wireless Special Load even if I still have unused Regular Load in my account and vise versa? 

    Having two different types of load in your account is alright. The longer validity between the two loads shall apply (NOTE: Load validity accumulation is not applicable for Sun Broadband Wireless Prepaid). 

    Scenario 1:

    Day 0 – Joey loads SBW 300 with 24 hrs internet usage. This load amount is valid for 10 days. 

    Day 2 – Joey uses Sun Broadband Wireless for 4 hours. 

    Day 5 – Joey’s balance of 20 hrs internet usage will expire today. Joey loads P150 regular load (7.5 hrs) valid for 30 days. 

    Total balance is 27.5 hrs expiring 30 days upon loading the P150 regular load. 

    Scenario 2: 

    Day 0 – Joey loads P500 (25 hrs) regular load which is valid for 60 days. 

    Day 5 – Joey uses Sun Broadband Wireless for 15 hours. 

    Day 10 – Joey loads SBW 100 (6 hrs, valid for 3 days) even if he still have P200 (10 hrs) unused regular load. 

    Total balance is 16 hrs expiring 50 days from Day 10 (or 60 days upon loading P500 regular load) 

    11. Can I load ten (10) SBW 300 load at the same time? How long is my load validity? 

    Yes. Your ten (10) SBW 300 load (240 hours) will be valid for 5 days (longest validity rule). 

    12. What’s the maximum load validity? 

    Maximum load validity is 60 days (Load validity for P500 Regular Load). 

    13. What’s the maximum cumulative number of hours can I load? 

    499,999 hours 

    14. Can I use Sun Broadband Wireless Prepaid to send SMS, make calls and receive SMS and outgoing calls? 

    No. Sun Broadband Wireless Prepaid can only be used for data with the exception of making outgoing SMS to 2225 and receiving incoming SMS for balance inquiry. 

    15. How will I know my balance? 

    Using the Text Messaging interface on your USD dashboard, just text “balance” to 2225. Note that inquiring about your balance to 2225 is free-of-charge. Thus you may check your balance even if you don’t have any load in your account or if you’re disconnected from the internet. 

    After successfully sending “balance” to 2225, you’ll be receiving a balance advisory from SBW. Balance advisory will indicate your available internet hours usage rounded off to 0.5 hrs. and its corresponding validity.

  3. Technical Concerns

     

    1. What are the system requirements for Sun Broadband Wireless?

    Sun Broadband Wireless comes with a USB modem (except for Sun Broadband Wireless SIM Only). To enjoy the full benefit of a high-speed Internet experience, we recommend, at the minimum, the following computer system requirement:

    i. Pentium 4, 1 GHz or higher
    ii. USB 2.0 full speed
    iii. Microsoft Windows 2000, Window XP, Windows Vista or Mac OS
    iv. 50 MB free hard disk space
    v. 128MB RAM or higher

    2. Is the modem SIM-locked?

    Yes. Non-Sun Broadband Wireless SIM will not function on the provided modem.

    3. Can I use Sun Broadband Wireless anywhere in the Philippines?

    Sun Broadband Wireless is best used within NCR where 3.5G infrastructure is present. 3.5G technology allows you to reach speeds of up to 2Mbps.

    On the other hand, using Sun Broadband Wireless Prepaid outside of NCR is possible by using GPRS/EDGE technology. GPRS/EDGE technology can give you speeds of up to 4x faster than dial-up.

    4. How do I set-up my network preference?

    Open your Sun Broadband Wireless user interface and go to Tools > Options > Network > Select Network Type > Bands> All Bands> Apply > OK

    5. Are subscribers guaranteed the published speeds?

    The published speeds are the maximum speeds available for the plans. Speed per usage would depend on several factors such as time of usage (peak or off-peak hours), location and traffic of users.

    6. Can I use my Sun Broadband Wireless SIM on my mobile phone?

    You can use your Sun Broadband Wireless SIM on you mobile phone if it is 3G/HSDPA compatible. Your SBW SIM will allow you to connect to the network and surf the Internet using your phone.

    Your connection and experience of the service will be limited to the capabilities of you mobile handset. Also, since voice calls and SMS functions are disabled on your SIM, you will only be able to utilize Sun Broadband Wireless for data.

    7. Can I use voice/video calls & SMS/MMS on my Sun Broadband Wireless SIM?

    The current service setting of Sun Broadband Wireless does not allow the subscriber to use voice/video calls & SMS/MMS. The subscription is limited to data services.

    8. How can I install Sun Broadband Wireless?

    Ensure that there are no running / active programs and then plug the modem to the USB port of the PC. The operating system should be able to find the new hardware and the installation prompt would appear automatically.

    9. I tried to install Sun Broadband Wireless to my PC but the installation prompt did not automatically appear. What should I do?

    Explore the drive path of “Sun Broadband Wireless” and then click “Autorun.exe” file. The installation prompt will then appear upon clicking the “Autorun.exe” file.

    10. Why am I getting a “page cannot be displayed” error when trying to browse the internet?

     

    • Make sure that you selected the right Profile name and APN. Open your Sun Broadband Wireless user interface and go to Tools > Options > Profile Management > Select the corresponding Profile Name > Edit > Type the APN > Tick “Static” > Save > OK.


     

    • It is likewise a healthy habit to perform a regular deletion / clean up of cache files, temporary internet files, and browsing history to free up your hard disk’s memory space.


    11. Why do I experience slow internet connection but the 3G signal is strong (steady cyan light indicator)?

     

    • Please ensure that cache and temporary internet files are deleted to free up your hard disk’s memory space. In your Internet Explorer browser, click on Tools -> Internet Options then click on clear cache, delete temporary internet files, and browsing history.

     

    • Please likewise ensure that remaining hard disk space is 50 MB or more . 50 MB of hard disk space is one of the minimum system requirements for Sun Broadband Wireless.

     

    • Ensure that your network is under WCDMA Only if within the 3G coverage. Open your Sun Broadband Wireless user interface and go to Tools > Options > Network > Network Type > WCDMA Only > Bands> All Bands> Apply > O K.

  5. Setting up the D100 Router


    Instructions:





    1. Go to the Quick Setup menu and click next.






    2. Type “fbband” for Plans 799, 649 and EasyBroadband; “mbband” for Plan 1399; and “minternet” for Prepaid in the APN field. Click next.






    3. Click Next






    4. Set Router Name and click Next.






    5. Select “WEP” as encryption type and set password. Click Next.

  6. Setting up the ZTE F188 for mobile and PC browsing

    Plug & Browse using your ZTE Handset:

     

    1. Go to Menu > Settings > Handset > Access Point Settings

    2. Add:

           

    • Name: ‘SBW Call and Surf’
    • APN: fbband
    • Authenticate: PAP


    1. Press back key, Go to Connect
    2. Add:

     

    • Name: ‘SBW Call and Surf’
    • APN: Choose ‘SBW Call and Surf’

     

    NOTE : proxy should be OFF

     

    1. Go to Menu > Browser > Options > Connect Settings

    2. Activate ‘SBW Call and Surf’

     

    3. Go to Menu > Browser > Go to > Enter address

    4. Start Browsing

                        

     

    Plug & Browse using your Laptop:

     

    1. Go to Menu > Settings > Handset > Modem Setting
